A group of Israeli "consultants" is accused of having altered more than 30 elections around the world using hacking, sabotage and automated disinformation on social media and is said to have established its own branch in Greece just before the national elections!
This is allegedly revealed by new research that brings to light the report of the British Guardian ,
The disclosure is made today by journalists from the Guardian, Le Monde, Spiegel and El País after a thorough investigation into the manipulation of electoral processes in various countries.
According to the publication signed by Stephanie Kirchgaessner, Manisha Ganguly, David Pegg, Carole Cadwalladr and Jason Burke, the so-called "Team Jorge" reaches as far as Greece and the Arab Emirates, as it states that it has a strike team in various countries.
As the report states, the group is led by Tal Hanan, a 50-year-old former Israeli special forces agent, now working privately! He goes by the nickname "Jorge" while working to tamper with elections in various countries for more than two decades.
Documents and material leaked to the Guardian reveal that Hanan did not answer detailed questions about the Jorge group's activities and methods, but said: "I deny any wrongdoing."
Disinformation is a weapon of Team Jorge, which operates a private service dedicated to secretly interfering in elections without leaving a trace. In fact, the team works for corporate clients.
Hanan allegedly told reporters posing as potential clients that his services, described by others as "black businesses," were available to intelligence agencies, political campaigns and private companies to covertly manipulate public opinion.
He claimed they have intervened across Africa, South and Central America, the US and Europe.
According to the report, one of Team Jorge's core services is a sophisticated software package, Advanced Impact Media Solutions, or Aims.
He has under his control a huge army of thousands of fake social media profiles on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Telegram, Gmail, Instagram and YouTube.
In fact, some avatars even have Amazon accounts with credit cards, bitcoin wallets, and Airbnb accounts.
Hanan described his team as "government service graduates" , with expertise in finance, social media and campaigning, as well as "psychological warfare", operating out of six offices around the world.
" Now we are participating in an election contest in Africa... We have a team in Greece and a team in the Emirates... You are following the facts. We have completed 33 presidential-level campaigns, 27 of which were successful."
Finally, Team Jorge told reporters that it would accept payments in various currencies, including cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, or cash. He emphasized that he will charge between 6 and 15 million euros for interference in the elections.
The Guardian's revelation about a group of Israeli agents who alter election results and the report about the existence of representatives of the said group in Greece was commented by Evangelos Antonaros who considers that there is a serious issue.
The former government representative, during the Karamanlis government, underlined that it cannot be considered safe to hold the parliamentary elections in Greece after the revelations of the British newspaper.
