Ο επικρατέστερος υποψήφιος για την προεδρία του Ισημερινού δολοφονήθηκε λίγο πριν από τις εκλογές αφού δεσμεύτηκε να αποκαλύψει την πολιτική διαφθορά [βίντεο]
Ο συντηρητικός υποψήφιος για την προεδρία του Ισημερινού Fernando Villavicencioπυροβολήθηκε θανάσιμα από άγνωστο ένοπλο σε πολιτική συγκέντρωση στην πρωτεύουσα της χώρας, Κίτο, λίγες εβδομάδες πριν από τις προεδρικές εκλογές, σύμφωνα με τοπικές αναφορές.
Ο 59χρονος υποψήφιος, ήταν δημοφιλής και κατέβαινε στις εκλογές με το συντηρητικό κόμμα Build Ecuador Movement. Ήταν μια από τις πιο επικριτικές φωνές κατά της αριστερής κυβέρνησης που είχε πολλά σκάνδαλα διαφθοράς, ειδικά κατά τη διάρκεια της κυβέρνησης του πρώην προέδρου Ραφαέλ Κορέα από το 2007 έως το 2017. Είχε υποβάλει πολλές δικαστικές καταγγελίες κατά υψηλόβαθμων μελών της κυβέρνησης.
Βίντεο που κυκλοφόρησε στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης δείχνει τον Villavicencio, ο οποίος μιλούσε για τις σχέσεις μεταξύ του οργανωμένου εγκλήματος και της κυβέρνησης, να περιβάλλεται από υποστηρικτές και να συνοδεύεται από φρουρούς ασφαλείας σε ένα όχημα. Αμέσως μετά ακούγονται πυροβολισμοί και οι άνθρωποι αρχίζουν να ουρλιάζουν και να κρύβονται.
Σύμφωνα με το γραφείο του γενικού εισαγγελέα, ένας ύποπτος για τη δολοφονία πέθανε από τραύματα που υπέστη κατά τη διάρκεια της ανταλλαγής πυρών που ακολούθησαν, ενώ έξι συλλήψεις έγιναν σε σχέση με την επίθεση, αν και δεν έχουν γίνει ακόμη γνωστά τα ονόματα.
Μιλώντας στον τόπο της δολοφονίας, ο θείος του Villavicencio, Galo Valencia, κατηγόρησε την κυβέρνηση ότι δεν παρείχε επαρκή ασφάλεια στον ανιψιό του και περιέγραψε πώς πίστευε ότι οι πυροβολισμοί ήταν πυροτεχνήματα που εκτοξεύτηκαν από υποστηρικτές έως ότου «είδαμε ότι υπήρχαν τραυματίες“.
«Αυτό που είδαμε ήταν σαν ταινία τρόμου. Ο θάνατος του συγγενή μου. Δεν έχω λόγια για αυτό που συμβαίνει στη χώρα. Απλώς σκότωσαν τη δημοκρατία», είπε.
«Σε τι ανασφάλεια ζούμε… αν ένας άνθρωπος που πολέμησε πάνω από 20 χρόνια, ο πιο πιθανός να κερδίσει τις εκλογές, δολοφονήθηκε. Μήπως είναι αυτός ένας τρόπος για να κερδίσεις τις εκλογές;».
Αυτόπτης μάρτυρας της επίθεσης που δεν θέλησε να κατονομαστεί είπε ότι αρχικά νόμιζε ότι οι πυροβολισμοί ήταν πυροτεχνήματα. «Ποτέ δεν φανταζόμασταν την τραγωδία που ζούμε τώρα στη χώρα. Αυτό είναι τρομοκρατία.
«Αν αυτό μπορεί να συμβεί σε έναν υποψήφιο που υποτίθεται ότι είχε ασφάλεια και επαφές, τότε οποιοσδήποτε μπορεί να σκοτωθεί. Αφήνει ένα ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα ότι εδώ η ζωή δεν αξίζει τίποτα».
Οι συνυποψήφιοι του Villavicencio εξέφρασαν την λύπη τους, σε μήνυμά τους στο Twitter , ο Otto Sonnenholzner είπε: «Τα θερμά μας συλλυπητήρια και τη βαθιά μας αλληλεγγύη με τους αγαπημένους του Fernando Villavicencio. Ο Θεός να τον έχει στη δόξα του. Η χώρα μας έχει ξεφύγει από τον έλεγχο».

Dr. John F. Clauser, a joint recipient of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics, has criticized the climate emergency narrative calling it “a dangerous corruption of science that threatens the world’s economy and the well-being of billions of people.”
Along with two others, Dr. Clauser, an experimental and theoretical physicist, was the 2022 recipient of the Nobel Prize for work done in the 1970s that showed “quantum entanglement” allowed particles such as photons to effectively interact at great distances, seemingly to require communication exceeding the speed of light. He has criticized the awarding of the 2021 Nobel Prize for work in the development of computer models predicting global warming, according to a coalition of scientists and commentators who argue that an informed discussion about CO2 would recognize its importance in sustaining plant life.
Dr. Clauser notes that bright white clouds are clearly the most conspicuous feature in satellite photos of the Earth.
These clouds are mostly produced by the evaporation of seawater by sunlight. They variably cover one-third to two-thirds of the Earth’s surface.
Most of the energy incident on the earth is in the form of visible sunlight. Clouds reflect sunlight energy back into space before it can reach the Earth’s surface to heat it.
He asserts that this temperature-regulating effect is more than fifty times as strong as the warming effect of CO2.
Dr. Clauser’s statement said that the “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and National Academy of Sciences (NAS) repeatedly concede that the effects of clouds do indeed represent the greatest uncertainty in their climate predictions.”
He further adds that “The IPCC’s detailed analysis of clouds (AR5) and their effect on climate totally misunderstands the effects of clouds, and totally ignores this dominating energy transport process.”
“It has been promoted and extended by similarly misguided business marketing agents, politicians, journalists, government agencies, and environmentalists.”
“In my opinion, there is no real climate crisis. There is, however, a very real problem with providing a decent standard of living to the world’s expanding population, especially given an associated energy crisis. The latter is being unnecessarily exacerbated by what, in my opinion, is incorrect climate science,” he said.
