Heavy lake-effect snowfall is also expected in the area over the weekend, with up to 4 feet of rain forecast in parts of western New York by Christmas.

Insane blizzard conditions are hammering Buffalo, NY with 70 mph winds, dangerous cold, whiteout conditions, and an icy storm surge called a seiche ripping off the tip of Lake Erie. Motorists are stranded across Buffalo. Trees damaged with power outages. If this lake effect insanity continues, this once-in-a-generation blizzard could surpass even the infamous Blizzard of 1977. I hope that all those stranded in the cars tonight are able to find shelter.
