Prairie Cricket Farms
Prairie cricket farms is a farm located in southern Manitoba. They raise crickets for human consumption as well as feed for the animals at the zoo. It is an incredibly sustainable food industry. Prairie Cricket Farms has changed the game in Manitoba, making this worldwide food source available here at home.
They offer it as powder, which can be used in baking and/or smoothies as well as whole seasoned crickets to curb those crazy salty cravings we all get. The crickets themselves have a nutty/earth flavor profile to them. I have tried the powder and every flavor that they offer and let me tell you, they are delicious. Packed with so many good things, these little critters should be added to everyone's daily diet, but I will let them explain the benefits to you in this video. They lay it all out.
In this video, you will see the process that they go through on a day-to-day basis. You will learn some of the health benefits of adding crickets to your diet. They also look at where they began and where they are today.
The Final Table is a series of short documentaries showcasing some of southern Manitoba's amazing local farms. At the end of the 10 part series, there will be a "final table," where we will present the 10 farms with a 10-course dinner. Each course will be dedicated to one of the 10 farms.
It is our goal to translate their passion for what they do, into each unique course.
